The Development Radar is our monthly digest of what local governments in Polk County are discussing: Comprehensive Plan amendments, Future Land Use Map (FLUM) changes, annexations and subdivision plats that reach public agendas months before they show up in the ground. This issue covers agendas from August 4 through September 2, 2026. The bulk of the activity was at the Board of County Commissioners, with transmittal and adoption hearings on Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code amendments; in the cities, a 193±-acre annexation with industrial designations, identified as SR 60 Industrial, moved forward in Lake Wales, along with a small-scale land-use amendment and the preliminary plat of a 31-unit subdivision in Haines City, and a voluntary annexation and a site development plan in Dundee. Every item was verified against its official agenda, live, on October 7, 2026: we publish only the ones whose link resolved and whose status appears verbatim on that agenda, next to the item it describes. Of the 27 items in this issue's draft, 26 cleared the gate. Every meeting cited has already been held: what is quoted here is how each item appears on its agenda, not the outcome of a vote.
